The end?

Writing a blog has been a lot more fun than I thought from the beginning, it has also taken much more time. Not only my own writing but learning about blogging in general and reading my classmates blogs.

It is so much more to it than I could imagine and now I have also learned what a great impact the blogs have, both good and bad. I think it will only continue to increase over time.

Just a few days beck I read from a newspaper about identity theft from a blog, scary! And then something nice instead: the royal wedding and the impact the social media has played in the event.

So both god and bad things, like life itself, anyway I have enjoyed this blog journey, maybe it ends here or I might blog about something in the future, let’s see………………………………………………………..

The look!

I am so happy about the new look of this blog! Its been "pimped" up a bit so it looks more personal. Specially afer having seen my classmates really nice blogs with pictures and everything.
Some people say its not about the look but when it comes to blogs this is not true, a nice blog must also have a presentable surface.
Maybe I will continue to "pimp" it up......................

Usefulness!

Last week on the news they reported about a woman that has written a blog. The blog is about her life and how she got injured some years back and her struggles to get back and also to get some payment from the insurance company. Now one of the insurance companies had read her blog and found out about her, somehow she got more money from them after they read her blog.

A really touching story, how lucky for her she has a blog. This made me realize what a great importance a blog can have!

New "landscapes"

At the moment I feel rather grateful towards the course I am taking. I think that without it I wouldn´t have stepped into the world of blogging. Since I stepped into this world I have realized what a great impact some blogs have, a really big influence.

It can be political, social, commercial and other kind of influences. My guess is that it will just grow and grow. I have also realized how much you can learn from other bloggers.

Our course is now about Web 2.0 and library 2.0, it’s a really interesting chapter and I think you could spend a lot of time on this subject.

But I end this blog as I started, I feel grateful I am able to participate in this course, it has opened up so many new “landscapes” to me, and without them I would still walk blindly around.

Information overload

I am desperately trying to follow my course the”Social web”. But it´s a struggle to find the time to learn and understand all the new things. There is so much new Internet- stuff, tecnichs and information that I am not sure what to concentrate on.

I wish I was more of a technical freak that already knew a bit about this stuff so I could really concentrate on the actual content, but now there are new techniques to learn, virtual worlds, rss, ditto, blogging, web and library 2.0, type with me and lots and lots of other things.

My brain feels boiling hot and I wonder how much more it can cope? Maybe I should treat myself to go clubbing in SL and take a nice cool drink?

Alienation?

Today I became a resident of the virtual world Second life; it seems really fascinating and interesting. I think it would never have crossed my mind to join if it wasn’t for the course I am taking where we are studying the social web.

It struck me that you can practically live your whole life on the Internet. You can study, follow news, communicate and socialize, order food and other things you need, work and probably even more things I didn’t think of. You just need a computer and Internet. So if you feel tired of the real world just stay inside with your computer.

I think somehow Internet steels our time and maybe it also alienates us from each other? Human kind is lazy and takes every opportunity to a short cut, if the virtual world gives a chance to an easier world, why step outside at all? You have everything you need on your screen.

Virtual world and time

I have been thinking about blogging a lot lately, the phenomenon and Internet. I have also been about to write every evening but since I became a mum I find it really hard to find the time. After our son arrived something happened with time. Time went fast before but nothing like this, it´s amazing.

I feel so happy I have managed to continue with my course and now it’s just this and two more semesters left. I have had a bad conscious about studying but I tell myself I do it for my son and it will be to his benefit to have a mother that is pleased and happy with her job in the future.

About the virtual world, it annoys me how much time you can spend there, surfing, blogging, chatting, facebooking etc. Is it time well spent? Or is time that you "loose" and that you could have done something better with?
What if a government or state wouldn´t allow their citizens to surf the net more than an hour per day, would it be beneficial to society and would people then spend their time doing more "useful" things?

I can’t even remember a world without the Internet anymore.............................................
