Virgin writer

Oh, dear!
Now more or less forced to it, I have started a blog, I feel anxious, excited and confused! It will surely take me some time just to understand how this works. I am doing this as part of a project for my information studies at Åbo Academy University. Writing in English you have to excuse grammar and spelling mistakes, I will try my best.

I have to admit it, even though I am an everyday surfer as most of us, blogs have never really interested me much, and I can’t be bothered. What is the purpose of a blog? The aim for me is trying to understand the blog- world by writing in my own blog and going out in the cyber world looking for other blogs as well as reading my course companions blogs.

When I have heard about the most visited blogs in Sweden like Blondin bella or whatever her names is, it makes me sad. Doesn’t people have anything better to do than reading this?
Where are the blogs with depth and that knowledge that you can actually do something with?
Why spend so much time reading about other people’s lives? I just don’t get it. But as I dive into the blog world I am about to find out. What interests me is also what a good blog is? Who decide this? What is it like?

Maybe after now having started my own blog, this will give me some useful new information about blogs and it might even change my opinion and prejudices.

So I am sort of a reluctant blogger that has started a new chapter in my life, this project ends in May, let’s see if this blog do so as well.......

Now I take my “googles” on and dive, blog blog blog.

  1. For me blogs are a gift from gods! What could be more interesting than getting to know how others are taking this whole thing, life? Whenever Im disappointed in humankind I go and read some of my favorite blogs. People are surprisingly thoughtful.

Its an interesting net the blogosphere. Its always such a joy to find a new intriguing one, because its a promise of more good blogs, a fruitful discovery indeed! That is to say bloggers usually list (and are linking to) the blogs they are following themselves. Its is a neverending road to take my friend, be aware...

Of course there are downsides. Few years ago I was hooked on blogs that where written by young people living in Kallio area. I read their blogs and watch their links in flickr.com (photostreams) and started to recognize them in the streets. I felt kind of a stalker, knew too much about them and their thoughts.

Had to move. (well, wasnt really the reason but now I can read my blogs without strange quilt of nosing strangers privacy)

I read mainly finnish blogs, but still, these are worth reading:

    http://veloenisch.blogspot.com/
    http://kemppinen.blogspot.com/

Have a nice journey! As a blogger as well.

  2. welcome to the blogsphere!

I'm just discovering what Tiina writes about, but she is so right!

It is not only knowing why you read and what you want to read in other peoples blogs, but if you write also what you want to write about - sounds simple but in the first case you can start to suffer from information overload and in the second of continuous bad conscience :)

I've read blogs for years but mostly about work related issues, which is not so bad either as you get some interesting subjective views on things - lately I've also learned to appreciate the comments and discussion following the actual blog'articles'. I've been though more of a 'peeker' (smygtittare) than an active participant as different roles of discussion and internet activity were defined in a course I took years ago.

I also have a blog, again for work related issues, but I've been really bad at writing and keeping it up to date. I also represent my workplace in a network and my collegues call me ironicly 'lahja dynaamisille tietoympäristöille' as I have not yet posted a single article on our blog!

Well, someone said that people who write publicly have something to say and kind of an urge to share their own thoughts with them who want to listen to them...It seems like I haven't yet realized what it is I want to say? ...or as simple as it is - some write, I talk :-D

It will be interesting to see whether we get into new habits after thus course ;)

    My recommendation:

365project is a project on recording 365 consecutive days of your life in pictures. Tiffany is my favorite - a mom as me and a photographer like I would like to be.
